Taken atop the finished tower (there is another unfinished) of St. Sulpice Church in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, France, this photo was one I never expected to take. I’d traveled to Paris with the hope of photographing churches and was fortunate for St. Sulpice to let me in. After I finished photographing inside, where I was kindly told not to lay in the floor, I was asked if I’d like to go up the tower. This was the view I found after climbing the spiral staircase. I had only a few minutes to shoot since it was rainy out, but I made the best of it. Just in front of the Eiffel Tower is Napoleon’s Tomb
